I designed and am currently developing the online store for Induco. The store uses Xsilva’s LightSpeed Web Store 2.0 as a backend because it integrates well with Induco’s retail database.

I designed this site, and am currently developing it for Project Futures. Once complete the site will include:

-Individual blogs for each rider in upcoming charity event.

-Streaming video content including closed captions.

-Accessible and Search Engine Optimized template.

-Interactive video documentaries.

I developed the flash navigational elements of Labor History site for Minosophy. The star navigation menu was animated programatically. The timeline navigation at the bottom of the site recieves data from the CMS through XML to allow users to navigate through the history of the labor party. The buttons to the right of the timeline allow users to filter the results that are available in the timeline.

I developed this online self help application for My Sporting Chance. The application uses a sporting metaphor to help users understand their problems and work out a way to overcome them through a series of questions which the user is prompted to answer. Once the application is completed the user may choose to print their new plan or save them it as a pdf. The application will be available to subscribers of the my sporting chance site soon, and can currently be viewed on my site at: http://andyvern.com/TEST/MSC/working/.

This semester I have been teaching AS3 at SCA USYD for the 1st and 2nd semester students.  The 1st semester course starts right from the beginning using AS3 and flash. In the second semester course we have been delving deeper into AS3 covering basic Object Orientated Programming, using Papervision 3D, Physics and trig amongst other topics. Recently I did some Search Engine Optimization work on mambo.com.au because their site was not receiving good rankings in Google or other Search Engine results. After fixing some validation errors and making some other improvements, mambo.com.au is currently ranked 1st by google.com.au.

This is a version of BUBBLE I’ve put up for anyone to download if they want. BUBBLE is an Adobe Air VJ / DJ program that I made for my major project for my masters. It’s still got quite a few bugs and there’s a whole
lot of things I’d like to change / update but I haven’t had time yet so I decided to put it up as is to see if anyone wants to try it.

IF you do probably avoid using the paint tool, it’s pretty problematic at the moment and will probably slow everything down. Currently the only video format BUBBLE is playing is FLV. FLV is the main format for videos on the web at the moment and if you don’t have any you can easily find free converters. Alternatively there is a YouTube search feature that allows you to search for and then stream videos directly from youtube into BUBBLE.

For music BUBBLE supports MP3 only, I hope to include all the video, image and music files Adobe Air supports soon.

I’ve started learning how to use Shane McCartney’s “Tweensy” tween engine. It’s supposed to be the most efficient tweening library out there which is great, but even more interesting to me is the Effects branch “Tweensy FX” which makes it relatively easy to come up with some of the highest quality visual and particle effects in Flash I’ve come across.

This experiment was just me playing around with one of Shane’s examples which come with the source code as I tried to wrap my head around how it works. Even though at first the script  seems fairly overwhelming, after going through the getting started docs and then looking into the examples it didn’t take that long to get the hang of.  What I was trying to get happening was to make it look like there are ghosts coming out of the smoke. It’s a bit hard to see the ghosts if your not looking for them but it still looks kind of cool anyway. I hope to come up with some more original effects with Tweensy soon.

This is my second experiment using Justin Windle’s AS3 Webcam Motion Tracking class. In the first one Donnie Darkos Mirror I used the motion tracking to position a rippling displacement effect. In this experiment I basically substituted the motion track for the mouse Positions in Paul Neaves “imagination”.

It’s not yet as smooth as I’d like it to be but is still kind of cool and looks good with the web cam stream layerd on Top with DIFFERENCE blendMode applied. I hope to find time soon to smooth it out, and probably the first thing I need to do is put back in the adjustable variables that Justing includes in his motion track class to allow the user to find the best settings for their particular setup.  Feel free to contact me if anyone wants the source code.
